What is HEAT Squad?
NeighborWorks of Western Vermont’s HEAT Squad is a non-profit which provides affordable energy audits, objective advice, access to incentives, and in-house financing options to residents (of all income levels) of Addison, Bennington, Rutland, Windham, and Windsor counties in Vermont.
What is an Energy Audit?
An energy audit is an evaluation that tells you how efficiently your home uses energy. Most people find that their homes are not conserving heat or using energy as well as they could. HEAT Squad’s in-house energy auditors will assess your home thoroughly for areas of heat loss and write a detailed audit report right on-site. It will not only explain the problem areas in your home, but will recommend improvements you can make to conserve heat in your home, detail the cost of these improvements, show how much you will save on your yearly energy bill, and provide an estimate of incentives from Efficiency Vermont for which you may be eligible.
Why should I improve the energy efficiency of my home?
There are three great reasons to improve your home’s energy efficiency. In most cases, you will save significantly on your heating bill! You will improve the comfort of your home in these cold Vermont winters. You will reduce your carbon footprint and do your part to protect our environment.
How much does the energy audit cost?
The energy audit costs $150 for up to 3500 sq ft (with an increase of $150 for each additional 1500 sq ft ). You choose whether to move forward with any or all work that is recommended. Work can be completed in phases and our partner contractors will work in accordance with your personal budget and your timeline. Also keep in mind that your auditor will help you prioritize work which will provide the fastest and biggest pay back.
Do I get any help paying for upgrades to my house?
